Created in 2005 for the purpose of promoting the Latin American & Iberian Vocal Repertoire,the centerpiece of the Barcelona Festival of Song® is a Summer Course for singers, collaborative pianists, guitarists & musicologists focused on the History & Interpretation of the Latin American & Iberian Vocal Repertoire in Spanish, Portuguese & Catalan.
The Festival also presents public concerts with well known singers, pianists and guitarists and the participants in the course.
With no doubt the BFOS is the best place to learn vocal repertoire in Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan!
In 2016 the Barcelona Festival of Song celebrates composer Enric Granados in his 100th Anniversary
To celebrate catalan composer Enric Granados (1867-1916) the festival presents concerts, conferences and master classes dedicated to his music. The festival is also launching the web www.enricgranados.com. Festival director Dr. Patricia Caicedo translated Granado´s biography written by Dr. Walter Clark. It was published in Spanish by Editorial Boileau of Barcelona.
MUNDOARTS TV: channel promoting Latin American & Iberian Music & Arts
The Barcelona Festival of Song launched MundoartsTV an online TV channel dedicated to promoting Iberian & Latin American Music & Arts.
On the channel, there is a special section for the concerts of the Barcelona Festival of Song and for interviews with composers and creators. To celebrate BFoS's 13th anniversary, MundoArts TV will stream the opening concert of the BFoS 2017 live and people from all over the world will be able to enjoy it for free.
Recovering works in Indigenous languages
In 2017 the Barcelona Festival of Song will pay special attention to works belonging to the Indegenous nationalism movement. Works by Peruvian, Colombian and Mexican composers in Quechua, Aymara and Nahuatl.
